The problem I see with Apple's approach is that the Air is already at 1.2kg vs the 14" MBP at 1.6kg. Even Dell and Razer don't dare chase this market the larger XPS and Blade still come with 45w CPUs and high end dGPUs and weigh over 2.2kg. The LG Gram 17 with its 15w CPU is pathetically underpowered for the $2k asking price but they get away with it by being the only 17" laptop that's less than 1.5kg. LG succeeded here because the Gram targeted the lightness above all (even build quality) niche from the beginning. There is absolutely a market who would be more than happy to get a larger screen with less power and more sex appeal even if they cost the same as a more powerful model. These guys splurged on the 16" Intel MBP back in 2019 just because they wanted the bigger screen, not because they needed the 45-60w power bracket.
